Mr. PhD's Symmetry Quilt

My nephew is earning his PhD in Mathematics. I'm so very proud of him. Somehow, I knew he'd love the geometry in this quilt. I know I love the Binding Tool Star! His favorite colors are blue and red. My original plan was to make a blue star with the red 2 1/2" squares with a cream background. When I went shopping for the background, I just didn't see anything that caught my eye. I kept going back to the red batik section. I love how it turned out. He's seen pictures on Facebook, and he loves it too. I can't wait to get it shipped up to his grandmother! I know she'll be excited to give it to him and watch his expression!
