Celtic Knot Y2K Charm

12-15-12 I just had dinner with a young man who asked me, basically, what quilt am I most proud of. Afer first deflecting the question, I came around to telling him about this quilt tol, the Y2K Charm quilt. This quilt has 2000 distinct fabric 2 inch squares. Thhe pattern came from a Dover book of Celtic designs, intended for cross stitch. I cut from my stash as well as took part in an online exchange to get 2000 different patterns. The close-up shows the section where the Santa Claus fabrics were clustered. The squares are all arranged dark vs. light, with the greens shading into the blues, into the purples. The hard part was with the in-between shades, light blues and light violets. The reds are put on the ends. There are 7 pandas in this quilt. And an Elvis.
