Dresden Plate Pillows

My beloved seventh grade teacher had twins and I knew I wanted to give her something special. One twin is a boy and the other a girl, but both initials are M, so I incorporated their initials in without trying to assign one pillow to either baby. One was intended to be a star and the other a sun, and my teacher decided the star would be her boy's and the sun her girl's! She loved the pillows and I loved trying out a new skill with the Dresden plate tool and hand-sewn applique. They are not perfect, but I love their soft flannel backing and the special buttons I picked up from a button shop in Cardiff, Wales while I was studying abroad this past semester.
