I have all this beautiful gold Christmas fabrics that were calling to me. After making the blocks I googled quilt borders and started pouring through the images. I found one that was piano keys, but they added a spacer fabric and a highlight and then more spacer fabric. I thought, hmmm, if I turned that highlight on point then it could be quilted to look like candles. A bit of fussing about until I got it (make them a bit long, then trim after assembly). I then had to figure out the corners. Three ideas, about 8 variations until my design team (darling daughter and granddaughter) agreed we’d gotten it right. Darling daughter wants me to do a swirly flame type quilting above the candles so I added one of ore strip if white to give me room. I found an acceptable flannel for the backing; but it will now go to the back burner as other things have jumped ahead. But I wanted to share!

Was helping a friend pick out fabrics for her project when I saw this line of blue fabrics. Didn’t know what I was going to do, just knew I had to have them. I believe it is the Fairy Frost line. I really liked this pattern, with one small adjustment-I changed the corners so it created a “circle” instead of a checkerboard as I wanted the stars to stand out. I stitched in the ditch in all the white areas again to make the stars pop. The fabrics are so pretty! The backing is a flannel. Sorry I don’t know why my pictures are always blurry. They aren’t until I load them here.

I watched the You Tube video and loved the colors and design. Good Morning –Imagine my delight and surprise when I got the latest issue of BLOCK. On page 80 in the photo is a chair that is exactly the same as the chairs for my mother’s dining room set (that I now have). I remember well dusting those chairs every Saturday morning! I have attached a picture of the chair as well as a photo of the Winter Stars quilt that I completed. Loved watching the tutorial on You Tube and watch your tutorials when I spend time in my sewing room (which is a lot during the pandemic). Thank you so much for your wonderful tutorials and all the expertise you share with us! I learn something new every time I watch you on You Tube! Looking forward to the re-opening of the shops…loved our trip to Hamilton 3 years ago! Road trip coming up for my sisters and friends! All the best, Diana Thomas

I bought this large, lovely Christmas Poinsettia digitally printed panel by Moda. I added a white border and a poinsettia border. I quilted it with Wasatch Glass Poinsettia digital design with Omni light rose thread. I used another poinsettia fabric for the backing. I hope to make 2021 the year of Christmas quilts. 68" x 74"

I just finished the binding on my quilt after getting back from MSQC for the special holly berry longarm stitching. They do just beautiful work. This quilt is a combination of 2 different panels. One was a vest of the Christmas greeting, trees, & gingerbread men. The other is the how to pictures of how to make the Bear. The rest of the quilt is pieces from my stash. I did not make the Bear it was made by another gal in my quilting group. I purchased just one at our annual sale a few years ago. The back is pieces also of groupings of bears, snowflakes on red and Christmas plaid.

I had so many of these 4 inch squares of white and pattern of a happy deer in my stash. I made 4 place mats and the a table runner and finally thought these need to be gone. So cut some red and green ones and toss them up on my design wall. My granddaughter calls it most festive so hence the name. It measures 54 by 71 so nice for the couch or large lap quilt. The back from stash also is a print of red/green/white squares. I stitched in the ditch which I found really hard to stay in ditch. I used some candy cane material for binding. Made some matching pillows as well. As our church with no bazaar this year has tables out to members I have added this to the table. Funds will help member of our church who are currently struggling due to covid-19. We have done well so many will get help with food or what ever else they may need for the holiday.

My Aunt let me keep all the leftovers from her quilts and now I had leftovers from my quilt. The idea in my head was something with a white and grey background. Which I found at JoAnns! My daughter was very happy with it. But I had even more fabric and lots of HSTs that needed something. A google search and I had a interesting pattern. This one will go to my Mom (don’t tell her!:)
