Stand Out From The Crowd/ Show Your Potential
Ok, Grandson #3 Graduation quilt. Hes age 8, now (2022). His favorite color is teal. I added the silver as a second color.
Jenny's tutorial gave me the idea to try this pattern, but am doing it as a quilt as you go pattern. I made the " happy" accident of cutting the strips at 1.5 inches instead of 1.75 as per their directions. As you can see by the photo that squaring this block up, the numbers 5 and 6 perspectively are straight on, on all sides. So that helps to square this up.
The back is a brush stroke gray in 108 inch backing fabric, which I cut down to squares to do the qayg technique. Will add more when project is complete. Can get my email on my profile page, if you have questions.
The block is squared to 11 inches. Oh, another tip is to quilt, if you so wish, the longest open center strip on the block, quilt it first. Then do the rest. I used a walking foot and also used basting spray, but it still wanted to "move" a little, I even used flathead pins, so just thought I would pass that on.
