I fell in Love with the this pattern and loved the earth tones and knew it would be perfect for one of my sons....I also was new at Jelly Rolls/Layer Cake patterns which I love....how they were redesigned from traditional patterns to fit pre cuts......I have attached another picture of a girly Bear Claw for an exchange student we had, this photo shows the color combo..(Not finished of course)

Boundless Hydrangea Pinwheel Quilt

I previously made a Boundless Hydrangea wall hanging (hubby made the shelf), so I wanted to make a matching bed quilt. This is a pinwheel quilt, and so easy to make with one layered cake of prints, and one layered cake in solid. The inner border is a solid white, and the outer border is in the Hydrangea collection. UPDATE: 4/17/18 Quilting is finished, and was done in a vine pattern. So happy with the results!

Summer Tumbling Blocks

**update: I first put this quilt on Bothtwins, before I made my own page, so apologies for the duplicate entry. Haven't figured out how to delete it there.) My first quilt. 08-2014 started cutting, 02-15-2015 finished piecing. This pattern by Liza Prior Lucy is in Kaffe Fassetts' book "Quilt Romance". In retrospect, I wouldn't recommend this pattern, as it calls for paper templates and scissors (techniques have improved) but it's lovely. I collected sale fabric for months before deciding on the pattern, Tumbling Blocks, which I always wanted to knit but just couldn't face 9 colors per row Fair-Isle, and if you've ever seen Kaffe's knit sweater patterns you know what I mean. Fast forward 25 years and here's my chance at Tumbling Blocks! I sent it off for top-stitching at Pacific Fabrics, a locally-owned small chain store and chose Hobbs poly-blend batt. Finished the binding on 04-24-2015. Queen size 94" x 98". I had enough leftovers to make a bolster cover and 4 pillowcases. I have to say that, at the time, I thought I had only one quilt in me (other hobbies, right?) but that is not how it turned out. Stay tuned.

Flying My Geese Home

I loved the idea of this quilt when I saw Jenny's video tutorial. I knew I'd have to make one. I used a Tonga Treat pkg in Creamsicle, a grey from my stash for the geese. The border was a print I found at WalMart and just loved the big scale print. The center of the flowers was a very bright yellow that didn't quite work with the muted colors of the batiks so I fixed that with a permanent marker in a muted pink that made a lovely orange shade over the yellow. The piecing went together quickly but I didn't get to quilting it right away. Am glad I waited. My quilting is constantly improving so I'm very pleased with this one. I do like to use up the big pieces in my stash for my backings, I like them to be interesting too, this one is pretty bold.

Happy Easter Happy Spring

A wonderful lady cleaned out her sewing room and donated 7 bags full of fabric. The ladies in our Project Linus group were like children on Christmas morning! This is one of the fabrics I got at the "give away". Hope it helps a child through a difficult time.
