So this is a raffle quilt that I received from a friend so I could quilt and bind it for her. I am in love with these blocks. The gal that did them never put them together and my friend received a box of fabric from her because she was moving out of state. My friend found all these completed blocks and was told to just make a quilt out of them. She has never made a quilt before. I think she did a great job. It is so adorable! I am inspired to make of one my own. It would be a good scrappy or fat quarter quilt. I don't know the name of the pattern. I know that the block of the single boot with the spur was kind of made up. It's all applique.

I took my first paper piecing class from Peggy Martin a couple of months ago. Although I'm not very good at it yet, I like this quilt. Applique is what I truly love to do, so I added a pattern from 'Southern Gentlemen'. The setting triangles are my idea. I really like them. I hope this will be pretty after quilting.

Dad's Shirts

After my father passed away, I helped my mother clear out the closet of all his cloths. I found these plaid shirts that he used to wear all the time in various colors. If you know anything about the Hawaiian cowboy (aka the paniolo) I am pretty sure you recognize the palaka shirts. I took some of Dad's clothes and made various quilts out of them for the whole family. This was one of the designs I came up with. Needless to say most of my family was shocked I could sew, but were happy that they have something to remember Dad by.

Daybreak

This was inspired by my sister-in-law. She told me one day if she wanted a quilt she would buy one.So over a few months I asked her what colors she liked and sent her a couple quilt pictures to see if she like them.Then I saw the video on Jordan Fabrics and I knew it was the one.I bought the pattern and then went to Jo-Ann fabrics and picked out the Black/White and bought the Gold and background White at Fabric Depot.Started cutting and sewing and just finished this much of it a few days ago.I am going to put 2 borders in Gold and Black. I did use the Tutorial Daybreak Quilt Pattern using a Strip Set from Jordan Fabrics on Youtube. Cozy Quilt Designs made this originally in Batiks. You can go to there site on Youtube and watch it.

Rhombus Cube Quilt

I was star struck the first time I saw this quilt. I had made one other quilt (after my initial class) which was large and nice, but it had no points, no places that had to match. Enter MSQC and Jenny Doan. She said this quilt could be made easily and I was hooked. I almost ordered different fabric, but really didn't have that much confidence at the time. This quilt gave me the confidence to know I could quilt, and I've been loving this hobby ever since.

Binding Tool Star Quilt

Mom was visiting and saw my Block magazines I was looking through. She said "Ooh I like that one!" So after discussion about her color choices, she said how she wants it to drape down longer and provide a pillow tuck. She called with bed dimensions after returning home. I knew then that I'd have to enlarge Noah's version. I figured what was needed to make it 36 blocks in only 4 colors for the points. It's 6x6 blocks and 106" square. It's going to be hard to hold for Christmas!

Wonky Stars

A couple of years ago we found out my FIL has Alzheimer's, changed our world. My hubs found a job near his father, we sold our house, I moved into an apartment, working for the next year waiting on retirement. My daughters college roommate was pregnant, having a boy. This quilt kept me occupied while I was alone in my apartment. Its the first one I did from a pattern, cutting all the pieces from yardage; no precuts. The name Wonky Stars came from my first attempt to do FMQ stars; no perfect stars.

Wedding Quilt in Purple and Gray

My son and his lovely fiancé are getting married in January 2018. Her favorite color is purple and the wedding colors are purple and gray. The background is Kaffe Fasset Artemesia, a shot cotton which reads gray/lavender depending on the light. The outer pieced border was made with a half-hexi template, and the wavy inner border is Dance of the Dragonfly fabric in Purple. I also added some bling with tiny Swarovski crystals on the piecing intersections within the medallion, but the camera didn't pick that up. The quilt is Queen sized and double batted, so weighs a ton. My younger son and his dad held it up for the photo, and were yelling at me to hurry up because it was so heavy!

Spring Sprouts

I purchased this laser cut pattern by Edyta Sitar and switched it up a bit. Border is my creation. Sold this one and sent the money to Uganda and the money was used to build a water tower in a small village. I was sent pictures of the building of it and the people who received it. Very moving.
