I needed to make a baby quilt and watched the sailing ship tutorial. Since I didn't have the hexagon template I had to change it to be small sail boats with a starry sky. I am really proud of it.

Waste Knot

Quilt #8. I made this between Sept 2016 and Jan 2017, which was 2 years after my sister (she's Bothtwins here on QB.M) and I started quilting. Pattern is by Susan Fuquay and sold through American Quilt Retailer as an individual pattern from their magazine, Vol. 14, Issue 83. The quilt - front, back, scrappy binding and 4 pillowcases - is all batiks, with a Hobbs Tuscany Silk batt and top-stitched by Lyn of Camlyn Quilts in Marysville, WA. It's the perfect quilt for summers in the Pacific NW. The original pattern is 3 by 3 blocks, a lap size quilt about 54" square. This one is 6 by 6 blocks, finished size 95" x 95". It's one of those quilts that are perfect for batiks. It was such a fun project that I want to make it again. The lap size should go fast. Lesson learned: I really, really like to quilt with batiks. Nantucket Summer II Zippered Bag

I decided to make a second zippered bag out of Nantucket Summer fabric, by Camille Roskelley since the first one was a bit small. This larger bag holds my large scissors, rulers, marking pens, etc. I still used the 2.5” mini charms, but made the bag with six across, and nine down. I decided to cut out the salvage, and heat and bond it to the center of the bag. Very easy afternoon project!

Disappearing Broken Dishes Star Block

A person in our club shared this. It looked fun so thought I would try it. She had a complicated move everything pattern to follow so I just tried turn all the outside blocks 180 in their spot. Yep, worked just fine and didn’t have to turn the center. In Jenny’s tutorial she does turn her center so her stars are a bit different. I thought they made bow ties, I didn’t see the stars anymore so was glad I’d left it the way the club pattern had them. Then came the layout, could do it so you had a checkerboard pattern or an apple core type secondary pattern. Did an all over medium meander.

Runners

This interlocking pattern looks like the start of a foot race. All the different teams bunched together, taking off at the same time. Just a thought. 72” x 78” The black is too stark, bold. It overshadows the blue and tan. I had a lot of trouble getting intersections to line up nicely.

Applique and quilted.pillow

I made this for my friends' birthday. She lives on a acreage. and had chickens. They were her pets 4 of them. Some sort of animal possibly a Wessel or fox got in the hen house and killed them.
