ChristyJ's likes 2017 - Kyle's Sticks and Stones Kyle asked me for a queen size quilt for a Christmas gift By gmkoza 10 LIKES | 709 VIEWS Thank you for your service quilt I made this for my nephew after he returned from his second tour. I had an idea but no pattern. The panel has trapunto quilting for the eagle, flag and tassels. The quilt was quilted on my home machine. I went through a lot of trial and error but I think the results are good. My nephew really appreciates the quilt and is quite proud of it. This was the third quilt I have made. The pillows were made from leftover fabric. Remembering that Christmas is a time that brings childhood joy back to the heart. Wishing you all find that place where joy lives and share it with all around you. Merry Christmas. I found Eleanor Burns Star Log Cabin Book on line and decided to go with it. He loved the colors in the picture on Pinterest but could not find what I needed at my local quilt shops. This was my first experience with MSQC. I found most of what i needed here. I did pick up fleece backing and a few pieces at Joanns. Your batiks were beautiful and wonderful quality. I barely finished in time for Christmas gifting. He absolutely loves his quilt By GrannyH 15 LIKES | 1165 VIEWS Black and white I love the bold look of black and white fabric but I wanted to add a third color that wasn't red. I found a perfect tan color to complement the black. I felt that this fabric lended itself to a more contemporary pattern with clean lines...most appropriate for a young man. I found the perfect pattern called "Spring Thaw" by Fons and Porter. I made this quilt for my daughter's boyfriend as a Christmas gift. He loves it. By Kables 10 LIKES | 815 VIEWS Celestial Circles This is my first attempt at using the Tri-Recs ruler to create stars. I love the illusion of circles that the star block makes with the alternate Shoofly block. I purchased this blueberry border fabric on a trip to Maine (known for it's blueberries) and now I have a wonderful memory quilt of our vacation there. I was going to keep this quilt for myself but my daughter loves it so much I decided to gift it to her. (Once I finish the binding!) I had it professionally quilted by my local LAQ. By Kables 16 LIKES | 956 VIEWS Charlotte's butterflies I made this for my daughter's 7th birthday. She picked the pattern Madame butterfly from Vanessa Goertzen's book Charm School. Her favorites colors are pink and blue so Riley Blake's fabric collection Posy Garden by Carina Gardner seemed like a natural choice! The pattern makes use of the beautiful floral charm squares perfectly. My daughter was very surprised and loves to snuggle under it and watch movies with her mum. Hopefully this will be cherished for many years to come! By KathrynW 53 LIKES | 1543 VIEWS Thank you for your service We are a three generation Navy family. I thought it would be nice to honor my son, Adam, for his service with this Ohio Star lap quilt in red, white, and blue. The blocks are fussy cut. I learned from my grandma Raines, but hadn’t made one for about 20 years. I have found something that I really enjoy! Thank you Grandma (R.I.P.).
