Makenzi and Matylda's gifts

I made these cute little baskets for my nieces Makenzi & Matlyda to give to them when I went to the recent baby shower for their baby brother who arrived on the 9th April :) I also made little lavender sachets filled with lavender from my garden & little totes to match. They were absolutely delighted with their presents.

Jungle Babies for Spencer Daniel

I recently came across this delightful pattern (designed by Casey York & by windhamfabrics.com.) whilst I was looking for something special to make for my friend who is pregnant with her first baby. I fell in LOVE with this and it is such a fun pattern to make. It measures 65"x75" so is a single bed size rather than a cot size. However, I just couldn't resist making this darling pattern especially when my local fabric store had the PERFECT fabric to use also.

Charity Baby Quilt

These delightful machine embroidered squares were purchased by my friend from our local Red Cross store. She kindly gave them to me to make into something special. I had the perfect flannelette fabric to make a suitable cot quilt. I will most likely donate this to the Perth Children's Hospital, WA Australia.

Baby Rag Quilt

I had alot of scrap batting that needed to be used, and this sweet little rag quilt used most of it. I used yardage from Riley Blake's "Modern Farmhouse" collection. I didn't follow a pattern, just cut various size strips and ragged them together, no quilting either, so this went together fast.

Trellised Blocks

So we are now at week 15 into the new year and of my 52-week "I Walked the Line" Walking-Foot Challenge! The quilting was definitely a challenge on this one, trying to figure out the correct measurements for this "Trellis Crosshatched" quilting pattern by Melissa Marginet in her book "Edge-to-Edge Walking Foot Quilting Designs", but I finally figured it out (after several "erasings" of my chalk pencil...LOL)! The fabrics I used were: "Thatched" New Colors by Robin Pickens for Moda Fabrics; Kona Solids Black; Painters Tarp/Canvas Natural.

Water Fowl Block Dignity Quilt

Hmm, I think these came once again from my Mom. They languished for a couple of years in my "decommissioned" fabrics stash until it too was almost empty and I had collected a variety of outdoorsy colors to create this quilt. It will go to my Daughter as a shroud.

Stash Using Dignity Quilt

It is amazing what you can create from a bunch of leftovers in the kitchen and in the sewing room! This Dignity quilt was created using up the last of the Water Fowl quilt pieces and a myriad of other projects using outdoorsy colors and fabrics. Oh! and I used a variegated thread for the quilting; each time it came to the green I would create leaves! Was a bit tough to really watch for that green coming and to guess the leaves right.

Fish Print

When my daughter was in 5th grade she went to camp. One of the projects was fish paintings. It has languished in a box for YEARS! But now, with my quilting skills improving I came across it again. I asked my daughter if it would be okay to quilt it, and then she could frame it. She was excited that I even still had it. I am after all my Mother's daughter and do have a bit of a stash myself so of course I still had it! The fish is quilted with variegated thread and the "water" is cream to blend with the background.
