Arizona... Wedding Quilt
Our son was getting married! He and his future wife lived in Arizona at the time. She was born and raised there. She loves the desert colors. I found this block called Arizona, and thought it would be perfect for their wedding quilt.
I stitched Saguaro cacti along the borders with sage brush where I had some puckering. ( I filled it in) I also found a Thunderbird Navaho Jewelry piece and used it as a pattern or template to quilt in the corners of the border. Also "wrote" their name and date of marriage on the border as well. I hand quilted some geometric designs on the block. I stitched in the ditch as well.
With the leftover fabric I made a "pillow case" type cover to store the quilt in when not in use, just to keep the dust off. Like a dust cover!
The "words" were written on the computer. Then I took that and found a window and traced that onto freezer paper. Ironed the freezer paper onto a white piece of fabric, then stitched over the words. This made the label for their quilt.
