Artisan Batik - Rag Quilt (Robert Kaufmann
My friend, Jeannine, recently retired and I remember her saying that some day she was thinking about making herself a Rag Quilt. To celebrate her retirement, my first rag quilt became my latest project. I bought all the fabric. To save money, I bought fabric by the yard Minky & Flannel. When I bumped into her she mentioned that she had changed her colors from purple and green to browns, grays, and greens. In my search for new fabric, I had trouble finding a layer cake with those particular colors. I was tired, it was late, spending a lot of time searching. When I found this Layer cake, I decided it would be a great compromise. To finish the back I just cut up my stash and scraps. This was a lot of fun, easy, and instant gratification because it only took about 5 days to complete from start to finish. Would I make another Rag Quilt? - Yes, Definitely. What would I change to make it better? I would plan the pattern for the back and front before I started sewing. Next, I am thinking about a more complicated block to rag quilt. Just to see if it would work. Creative minds are always dreaming of the next project.
