My Mom had a pile of little block packets from her local fabric shop. She kept part and sent along these. (I quit making them when I had the number needed) With a little finagling of the fabrics I came up with these 12. Bordered with more of the fabric and bound with a purple from my stash it turned out pretty cute. Also from my Mom's stash was a lot of the Ultra Suede fabrics. Quilted using a large meander. They are making fabulous backs. Will go to a nephew and wife who are expecting their first in August.

Preemie Scrap Quilts

During our Covid lockdown in 2020, I decided to attempt to use up some of my twenty years worth of scrap fabric. The end result was 10 quilt tops destined for the NICQ ward at Vancouver Women's hospital. They are all 36 x 36 with flannel backing. The tops languished in my sewing room when I was unable to get batting and flannel backing. I now have those items so no more excuses. Here are six finished quilts I managed to work my way through quite a lot of fabric and thread and found I had to be creative when I didn't have quite as much as I needed. It made me think this must be what quilting was like in the past when we couldn't just order what we wanted online from 1000's of choices.

Jungle Fever

These quilts actually work up really fast. It calls for 10 inch squares, but with some paying attention I was able to use up a lot of my batik scraps. These are destined to be shrouds or at least a lap quilt for the smaller one.

So, back in the day, I purchased two of these kits. My fantacy was to have matching quilts in the kiddo's room and in our room. Alas, kiddo said he'd rather something different. No biggie. I went ahead and made both quilt tops with plans on returning to them at a later date to add borders etc etc. In a drawer they went. Plans changed... again. I completed one quilt for a raffle, and someone else fell in love with the other quilt. Therefore it is being made into a queen size quilt and shipped off as a gift. *sigh* Still need to make my bed a quilt.... LOL!!

Bargello Christmas Tree Skirt

My daughter moved to another state this past summer. It will be her first Christmas by herself this year. I made this tree skirt for her in her favorite color blue. I used June Taylor quilt as you go batting and Shabby Fabrics Bargello Tree Skirt pattern. The pattern was written for their kit, as I used my own fabrics, I had to number their fabrics and number their pictures for the 16 strip sets. I put it on a slightly bigger backing so that I can quilt snowflakes on my longarm. I quilted digital design "Jessica's Snowflakes" and hand bound. The pattern makes a 40" tree skirt.
