WyomingNana's likes Pink and gray star quilt I used fabric from my stash and a side kick ruler for this quilt. I experimented with triangles and diamond shapes. One of my favorite parts of quilting is designing the project. I design as I go using a design wall. There are a lot of y seams in this piece, I learned it is important to back stitch the partial seam so is does not separate when quilting. I also learned that heavy quilting covers a multitude of piecing imperfections........ Used 'fabric magic' to add texture to headdress, dress and jewelry. I just finished this quilt top for my friend/neighbor's daughter for high school graduation. I used blue, purple, and green fabric (her favorite colors). I used fabric scraps to make a string border. 80 x 96" I'm going to quilt it with my friend's help on her longarm tomorrow. By blbaughman 27 LIKES | 1157 VIEWS Penny Farthing Love bikes of all kinds. I used a Floating Star pattern and made the pillow cases following MSQC tutorial. The long arm quilting was done by Quilts by Jen in Alabama. Left over blocks were used to make the two small pillows. I have worked for Mayor Burns the entire time. He has often admired the quilts I have made and gifted and asked one day when was he getting his. He is a Vietnam Veteran so I made him this beauty in honor of his military service and his service to the City of Southside. To say the least he was pleasantly surprised. By plquilter66 9 LIKES | 974 VIEWS Dolly quilt for Victoria I made a tulip quilt for my niece a while back and thought that a coordinating dolly quilt would be fun to do with left over blocks from projects. I used left over wool batting and fabric from my stash to add to the blocks. I had been struggling with quilting swirls, so this was a fun, low pressure opportunity to improve them. By plquilter66 17 LIKES | 771 VIEWS Jacob's Ladder memory quilt (1 of 6) I'm helping my friend piece quilts for her longarm quilting business. A family wanted six memory quilts made out of their fathers/grandfathers shirts. The plaid fabric is a flannel shirt in this quilt. Shift happens, missed some points. My friend lets me use her longarm and will quilt for me in return. It's a win/win for both of us. :-) By blbaughman 15 LIKES | 593 VIEWS Making a gift special As my brother-in-law wanted his quilt sewn on Grandma's Singer treadle. I though adding label with the photo and names of the 3 people who owned it before I did would make it more special I did the letters on my embroidery machine. By caf7carq 11 LIKES | 656 VIEWS A little Carolina, Duke and State This quilt is for my husband's cousin. He lost his son to cancer earlier this year. He's fought the battle with cancer 3 times in the last 4 years... all different kinds, nothing related to each other. Last week, he had to have his second gamma knife procedure. I went through my stash and found Indigo Stonehenge jelly roll and some left over red batik. I searched Donna Jordan's tutorials and used her Jelly Roll Log Cabin pattern. I love how it turned out. Mike is a Carolina fan. I'm a long time Duke fan. My oldest went to NC State. So all three schools are represented in this quilt for Mike M. By KPH 10 LIKES | 626 VIEWS «12...17181920212223...2829»
