After my mom died I kept seeing this fabric and experiencing an overwhelming need to make a quilt for her baby sister, my aunt. I lost count of how many times it popped up and I put the fabric in the cart just to delete it, because I don't usually make quilts for people. I finally decided (for the sake of my sanity) just to go with it and this quilt is from my mother to her baby sister.

I wanted to try the Quartered Stripes Quilt and when I saw the Laurel Burch striped fabric I decided to give it a try. I wasn't sure if the pattern was to busy, but I loved all the color. I changed it up a little to get it to where I liked the way the colors worked.

Pinwheels and Merry Go Rounds

I decided to try the flying geese block so I googled different methods of making them, drew up a pattern where the pinwheel is basically a Dutchman's Puzzle and the other is just a square with one partial seam. I used the extra geese to border the back so I could practice trying to get the front and back lined up with very limited floor space. I figured out when it comes to flying geese, I prefer herding cats.
