My first king size quilt, made for a friend.

My niece had a stash of ribbons from showing horses so I made this quilt for her. It is one of the first quilts I pieced. It was before I heard about MSQC so it was without a pattern or direction. It is hand tied itstead of machine quilted as I didn't want to damage the ribbons. The gold satin was from the runner she used in her wedding.

A Quiet Oasis

I fell in love with Metallic Oasis Patty Cake when it was the Daily Deal, but we were in the process of getting our house ready to sell. I didn't have time to focus on making a quilt. It took a while, but I finally had time to work on it. Then after another while, I had time to quilt on it, and after months (which is so unlike me) I finally had the quilt ready to put on our bed. DH can finally brag that he has a quilt for each season for our bedroom.

Chromatics DNA Quilt

My son just completed his PhD in molecular biology. So I looked for a DNA quilt pattern and found this free pattern from In the Beginning Fabrics. All the fabrics and pattern are from their website. The quilt is 98" x 74". It is machine pieced and quilted on my domestic machine.

Tablerunner

I wanted to make a tablerunner for our big table. Found an easy pattern on the web and used scraps from a jellyroll to make this little project. I made the top by hand but quilted on the machine. My hands don't like quilting, it's the old age I think.

A local quilt shop offers a Strippers club every other month. This was last December's. I took my other half with me to the demo and he loved it so I bought the strip set and made it. The back is from fabric that he bought shortly after we met and hung it over his curtain rods when I came over for Christmas. That fabric has followed us around the world. For a few years (before I started sewing and quilting) I used to wrap it around the bottom of our Christmas tree as a make shift tree skirt. The red and white fabric is left over from my younger daughters tree skirt I made 2 yrs ago.
