365 Challenge

I participated in the 365 Challenge and just finished quilting the project. Every day last year, we received block pattern from the Facebook called the 365 Challenge. The patterns came with a brief history of each pattern along with the origination date. Many of the dates ranged from the mid 1800s to mid 1900s. Some were original designs by the Australian moderator. The blocks were 3 1/2" and 6 1/2" in size. The middle block was 18" and the four flower corners measure 12". The finished size is 90" square. Although it was hard to get the whole quilt in the picture, you can see most of the quilt. It was a fun project, but I am so glad it is over! The Missouri Star sponsored one of the weekly prize drawings.

ORIGAMI FABRIC WREATH - A Great Scrapbuster!

I am always looking for ideas for Christmas Gifts. I found this video for a no sew craft. https://youtu.be/2otDYbHYnD4 I was inspired until I tried to buy wreath's on line, They were all sold out. After Christmas, looking for bargains I found the Styrofoam wreaths. I bought 6 large and 6 small wreaths to put away for a future project. My sister is going through Chemo and I have been visiting once a week. We were watching movies until I found out Crafts are a great way for her to keep her mind active and being creative really helps keep the blues away. It was our third week of crafting when I suggested that we make these wreath. She loved it. She wasn't able to finish hers, but I bet she has it done for my next visit. She made a Patriotic Wreath. I'll post pictures next week. If you want to bust your scrap bin, this is the project. 2 1/2 inch squares ironed. This took 160 squares 320 pins and your favorite fabric scraps. about a 4 hour project, {if you do not iron watching TV. } This was fun, fun, and more fun. Think of the possibilities, Valentines Day, 4th of July, Memorial Day, etc,. . . . UPDATE: My sister did finish her wreath - Pictures attached! Thanks for all of your good wishes and prayers. She had a good week.

Raining Inspiration

This Falling Charms quilt was made from four April Showers charm packs that I purchased early in my quilting addition, soon after I discovered MSQC and "The Daily Deal!". In fact, looking at my order history, these were the very FIRST purchase I made from the shop! February 24, 2014, I invested in four charm packs with the intention of pairing them with some solid fabric from the stash that my grandmother gave me. I remember that I loved the Falling charms tutorial quilt that I had seen online and took the dive, feeling like I had spent "a lot" of money! LOL! Look at me now, three years later, fully addicted to beautiful fabric, quilting up a storm, and a longarm quilter with a full appreciation of the value of the trade. I worked on this quilt at two separate MSQC retreats in Hamilton Missouri and enjoyed every minute. It is still wrinkled from binding, but finally finished and keeping us cozy! I hope to get some better photos later.

Cutting Corners

This pattern is a great way to use up scraps! I always have left over binding, so like most of you, I save them in a basket. When I saw the Missouri Star Cutting Corners video, I thought what a great way to use up those binding scraps. This quilt is a perfect Wounded Warrior donation.

Liked the overall pattern and purchased kit; the variety of fabrics was not ideal in my opinion, and the pattern is quite vague on which fabrics go where, so piecing it is a bit of an adventure in figuring out which fabrics to put where.

Scrappy Quilts

We moved so this motivated me to get my scraps "under control." I ironed, and folded, putting them in little shoebox tubs, and with the real small pieces either cut little squares, or rectangles. These two quilts are the results of doing that. I have been learning to free motion quilt on my home machine. So I marked these and tried to follow the lines.
