By kimberwdld 10 LIKES | 889 VIEWS Pink and gray star quilt I used fabric from my stash and a side kick ruler for this quilt. I experimented with triangles and diamond shapes. One of my favorite parts of quilting is designing the project. I design as I go using a design wall. There are a lot of y seams in this piece, I learned it is important to back stitch the partial seam so is does not separate when quilting. I also learned that heavy quilting covers a multitude of piecing imperfections........ I just love sunflowers. Sew I got this great idea I would try to make a quilt with sunflowers. Mind you I haven’t made very many quilts ( just a few) Sew this project is probably a little bigger than I should have bit on..... I found the cutest sunflower on Pinterest. The kids didn’t know about the quilt until the big day. I think it was a pretty big hit. I just finished this quilt top for my friend/neighbor's daughter for high school graduation. I used blue, purple, and green fabric (her favorite colors). I used fabric scraps to make a string border. 80 x 96" I'm going to quilt it with my friend's help on her longarm tomorrow. By blbaughman 27 LIKES | 1243 VIEWS Dr. Seuss Quilt This quilt is 58 by 75. By Aileron18 6 LIKES | 461 VIEWS Memory Quilt A good friend of mine asked if I would make a T-shirt memory quilt from her late husband's shirts. I was thrilled to do this for her. My first T-shirt quilt. She requested flannel for the back. The border is Michael Millers Painters canvas - black. Very fitting as her husband was a painter. He and his future wife lived in Arizona at the time. She was born and raised there. She loves the desert colors. I found this block called Arizona, and thought it would be perfect for their wedding quilt. I stitched Saguaro cacti along the borders with sage brush where I had some puckering. ( I filled it in) I also found a Thunderbird Navaho Jewelry piece and used it as a pattern or template to quilt in the corners of the border. Also "wrote" their name and date of marriage on the border as well. I hand quilted some geometric designs on the block. I stitched in the ditch as well. With the leftover fabric I made a "pillow case" type cover to store the quilt in when not in use, just to keep the dust off. Like a dust cover! The "words" were written on the computer. Then I took that and found a window and traced that onto freezer paper. Ironed the freezer paper onto a white piece of fabric, then stitched over the words. This made the label for their quilt.
