I had also decided that I was going to practice my FMQ skills on this one so I purchased some fabric from Joannes on a really great sale. I was planning on donating it so I didn't have a lot of money or sentiment tied up in my first FMQ attempt. It was very liberating and not terribly stressful. I encourage anyone afraid of trying out their first FMQ experience not to put a lot of $$ or mental attachment in the quilt itself. By klgls 42 LIKES | 2394 VIEWS Tree of Life I saw a set of ceramic tiles that really caught my eye. (A photo of the tiles are shown on the lower right) They were done in earth tones and when put together, formed a beautiful tree of life mural. I immediately thought what a beautiful quilt that would make. I had purchased some Stonehenge Warm Stone fat quarters awhile back that I hadn't found the "perfect" project for and they were exactly what was needed. The squares were sewn together with black fabric forming the sashing (grout) between each block. I then sketched out the tree on the blocks. This is all totally free motion quilting. It was so much fun working on this. By JeanneH 27 LIKES | 1652 VIEWS Alpine Woods My brother is a retired park ranger and lives in Colorado. I made this quilt for him to celebrate his birthday. By MaryMaloney 23 LIKES | 1648 VIEWS Stairway to Heaven When he was younger and still living at home, my son and I used to enjoy playing music together. He played guitar and I played the keyboard. Our favorite song was Stairway to Heaven. He asked me if I would make a wall hanging for him and so to honor his 49th birthday I made this for him as a memorial to those great musical times we had together. I love to quilt, really love whole cloth quilts and am mesmerized by Zentangle. This is a combination of all three and a lot of love. I have to say, stitching with heavy black thread on cream fabric was more than a little daunting! By JeanneH 88 LIKES | 3165 VIEWS Patchwork of the Crosses in Red and White I hand pieced this miniature. It's 18.5" x 18.5". Also hand quilted. I entered this quilt in Sauders Quilt Show in Archbold Ohio and received a third place. The hand piecing is done using a running stitch. The stitching lines were provided by Inklingo By SandyWhite 18 LIKES | 1639 VIEWS New Life This art quilt was designed for Recycled Art in the Park in my community. And half of a jelly roll each of the black and white solids. By estelle71 35 LIKES | 2101 VIEWS «12...567891011...192193»
