My sister loves polka dots, so when I found a layer cake of swiss dot fabrics, I reserved those for her. Then I saw Jenny's tutorial on the Tea Cake pattern - it was just perfect for the layer cake. I put a larger polka dot as the backing just for fun. "Make a Tea Cakes quilt with Jenny"
Hedgehogs play hide and seek in this cheerful bordered periwinkle quilt from Jenny Doan's tutorial of the same name. They remind me of my twin toddler granddaughters who follow each other everywhere. For the fabrics, I selected "Simply Colorful V & Co. Moda Metro", Bluebird Park by Kate & Birdie Peper Co. for Moda Fabrics, paired with assorted batiks. To give the quilt a unifying appearance, I sewed the hedgehog print in each octagonal section. It is my second quilt utilizing the demonstrated paper piecing technique. I free motioned Irish Stars circular designs in the octagonal shapes , cursive "e's" on the narrow border, and used the walking foot to channel stitch the quilt top. I was happy with the final result ... so is my daughter-in-law who loves the color yellow and was the recipient of this happy quilt.
