Phantom of the Opera Quilt
I am a huge fan of the Phantom's story in all its forms. So, when I found a fabric collection designed and officially licensed for the musical, I thought I won the lottery! This one took a lot of work planning and was frustrating to lay out and piece, especially since I didn't have a design wall at the time! As I put it together I was sure it would turn out like crap, but ultimately, once it was all together, I actually loved it. The sides aren't 100% even but I can live with it. This was also my first attempt at making traditional quilt blocks. I chose the simplest ones I could find and actually had lots of fun making them. This was a quilt-as-you-go quilt, broken down into panels and blocks. Each block was quilted with a different pattern, again experimenting on different techniques. Some utilized chalked stencils, but most I did free-hand. The backing is done in large scraps of black and blues fabrics.
