Birth Announcement Quilt

Quilt was made for a Niece, I used a Fabric called Little Rascals and I also used part of my Sister in laws wedding gown for all of the White in the quilt. I added the Grandparents wedding date, Niece and Nephews wedding date and then the Birth of their first sons Birth Information. This was my first challenging quilt.

Yellow Brick Road- Wedding quilt

My Niece wanted a signature quilt to use as her guestbook for her wedding.I had so much fun making this quilt for them.She went online and picked out fabrics to match her wedding colors. This was a first for me and it was beautiful. My husband did the Embroidery for the center square with wedding day information. I then quilted it with an all over meander on my Juki sewing machine that is on a Grace frame.

Restoring a Vintage Quilt for Someone

We bought our 100 year old house from a great family who raised four generations here in this house. We have remained friendly over the last two years since taking ownership. The youngest daughter had this vintage quilt made by their mother when she lived here. The black squares were of a weaker fabric and were shredding. I appliqued new black squares over the other ones, and blind stitch around the edges. I also repaired other seams that were falling apart with carefully hidden stitches. It will still be intact but I cautioned her to not "use" it anymore and now hang it from a rack instead. She promised to only use it when she is sick and wants to curl up in her mother's arms, savoring her memory... awwwww

Sandy Naturals Queen Sized Quilt

I made this quilt quickly right before Christmas for my oldest daughter and her fiance. (I had the crazy idea 2 weeks before Christmas to get THREE quilts done, one for each of our grown kids!) It was finished up right before Christmas Eve! WHEW!!! it's just big triangles and sashing, all in neutral beiges to coordinate with her bedroom decor. I pieced this quilt entirely on my 100+ year old treadle machine. Then I use the "quilt-as-you-go" free motion method on my Janome, rather than sending out a quilt top to someone to quilt for me.

Paper Pieced Hot Pads While Learning to Quilt

When my friend taught me paperpiecing, I went nuts and learned on a lot of hot pads to perfect my skills with this technique. All hot pads have two layers inside, one of batting and one of Insulbrite for heat protection. I made sooo many of these, and gave them away for gifts, and then sold a bunch at a craft show. Great way to use up scraps! I have a quilter friend who gives me all her scraps, coordinated in bags already from her projects for me to use up. Most are sewn on my 100+ year old treadle machine.

Baby Quilts I Made Long Ago

I have always been crafty and a sewer (also a weaver, spinning and antique sock knitting machine person) I used to work in a fabric department in a large chain store when I started raising my own family. Two are applique, one is drawn on with Artex fabric paint tubes with Bambi picss, These are three quilts I made wayyyy back then for my children, and now my GRANDCHILDREN enjoy them and use them daily! Ahhhhh that feels SO GOOD!

Wedding Pendant Quilt (Work In Progress)

My nephew and nieceinlaw had these lovely old fashioned triangle pendants for part of their wedding decor. It was a great homespun styled wedding. As we were taking down the decorations, I asked what was she doing with the fabrics? She didn't know. I offered to make them a quilt from the fabrics!!! I cut them all to size, and adding triangles of muslin to coordinate. I think I will make a border of smaller triangles around the edges. I pieced this quilt entirely on my 100+ year old treadle machine. Now I am using the "quilt-as-you-go" free motion method on my Janome, rather than sending out a quilt top to someone to quilt for me. I have three panels done and will get it finished in the next few weeks.

Wooly Weathervane Wall Hanging

This is my first (and probably only) time working with wool for quilting. It was just "okay" and not thrilling to me. I prefer cotton quilting rather than wool applique stuff. I bought the pattern from Nancys Notions and made it to see if I liked doing it. I don't. LOL ... But I do like the finished piece and it hangs in my hallway.

Upcycled Quilt Display Rack

Okay, it's not a quilt. I am always looking for a way to display quilts and finding a stand that is too short for a large quilt, not wide enough for anything really then a table runner seems to be the only Big Box Store items available. This is made from a crib that is no longer considered safe for a baby because the rungs of the sides are too far apart. Both sides were simpley screwed together on an angle & using parts of the ends to support them. A few rungs were removed from the bottom and placed on top. A can of spray paint and whaa-laaa!

Kelley's stamp quilt

An tribute to my father and stamp collecting. I based the layout on Cherry House's "City Lights". I designed the stamp fabric by using pictures of actual stamps printed on combed cotton using Spoonflower fabric printing service.

My first bed sized quilt

This was the first bed sized quilt I attempted when I was still learning to quilt. I did a simple jelly roll (which I cut the strips myself so there a bit uneven of course) with borders and in the borders I added pictures of my two girls and embroidered by hand their names and birth dates. Will always be a special one to me.

Wendy night

I made this wall hanging for my daughter and her best friend, Wendy the wonder dog. I used colors for a golden retriever and adjusted other elements to compliment the night sky. I sewed tiny crystal beads to the stars in a few places. This was a Christmas present and I had a blast doing the appliqué.
