Good Fortune

I made Jenny's "Good Fortune" quilt for a friend fighting colon cancer. I had picked up the Regency Metallic layer cake on a Daiiy Deal. Since she loves blue this was the perfect fabric. I backed it in the same floral as the border. I gifted it yesterday, she loved it.

Stars and Pinwheels

I followed the Stars and Pinwheels pattern which I purchased from Missouri Star Quilt Company. They also have a tutorial which I referred to as well. I quilted it on my domestic sewing machine using diagonal serpentine lines. I backed it with solid navy fleece. The fleece made it quite a heavy quilt so it was a bit tricky to quilt! I think it’s probably a large twin size. I used mostly Kansas Troubles fabric, some new and some leftover from previous projects.

Quilt for my Grandson

I fell in love with the "Hungry Animal Alphabet" fabric line. The illustrations are soo darn cute! I cut the alphabet panel apart and just added 4 patches and big borders. I also made a sham and throw pillow with coordinating fabric. This will go to my grandson for his new toddler bed.

Take two on this darling little pattern. The pattern is by Robert Kaufman and is free on-line. With a prodigious amount of babies due this year, I needed to get busy. I like to have a cache of completed quilts on hand. This went together very quickly and did a mixture of straight line quilting and free motion quilting.

Small Transformations

My stack of orphan blocks from past quilt projects found a new home recently. For a quick satisfactory sewing diversion between larger quilting projects, I made various sizes of fabric pouches to whittle down these orphan blocks and coordinating leftover fabrics. I used bag patterns from MellySews and Minki Kim's DIY cosmetic zippered bag from sewingillustrations.com I added a couple of zipper pulls which I had bought at a gift shop. It was also a good opportunity to try out different presser feet and decorative stitches on my sewing machine. These sweet bags could be filled with cosmetics or anything to-go as well as make great gifts.
