HAPPINESS IN A BED

I was told by our daughter-in-law that her mother loved color so I took 57 fat quarters and made her this rail fence star. Unlike Jenny's rail fence star I combined the rail fence and the star from the BASIC X block.

Blues and Greys

Started sewing half square triangles with a layer cake of blues and greys mixing in some white and turquoise. Turned them into quarter square triangles. Really just made it up and then took all the squares and played around with placement. I love the colors and it just kind of fell together. Gave it to my son and daughter-in-law

Thank you for your service quilt

I made this for my nephew after he returned from his second tour. I had an idea but no pattern. The panel has trapunto quilting for the eagle, flag and tassels. The quilt was quilted on my home machine. I went through a lot of trial and error but I think the results are good. My nephew really appreciates the quilt and is quite proud of it. This was the third quilt I have made. The pillows were made from leftover fabric.

Think Outside The Box

Our oldest grandson graduated college from a prestigious university. I wanted to make him something that he would enjoy; hence the red, grays and black. These are his favorite colors. The rhombus quilt was the answer. He was a science major so this was the perfect quilt. I made one box top out of a different fabric so that he would always remember to think "Outside the Box". I made two matching pillowcases and an 18" decorator pillow. The quilting was custom to bring out the 3-D boxes. The circle quilting on the pillow is the same that was on the black border. I backed it with a very soft medium gray minky.

Egyptian Diamond Dash

As a fan of Downton Abbey, when I saw the Egyptian line I fell in love. The fabrics were too pretty to cut. The Diamond Dash tutorial was the perfect solution. This quilt now resides in our guestroom, and I get all sorts of compliments. I even had one guest do a rendition of Steve Martin's "King Tut." That alone was worth making this quilt for!

Hidden Wells QAYG

I made this quilt for my great granddaughter, Edie. It was my first QAYG project and it worked beautifully for me. It won't be my last. I wanted to use Glo In The Dark thread to FMQ this quilt, however, when I pressed my first block, I melted the thread. Had to pick it out of the block. I used regular thread and quilted her name in the border with the Glo In The Dark thread. Lesson learned.

Twinkling Stars Quilt

BLUE HEAVEN

I made this "RAIL FENCE STAR" quilt our elderly neighbors. She made a comment to me that the quilts she had didn't fit her bed so she threw them out. They will be marrie 69 years this month, November 2017. I was able to get out of her what their favorite colors were which happens they both love blue. I added a bit of purple becaue she liked that also, but I did not put any floral fabric in it so it was masculine for him. I surprised them with it one afternoon and they were so taken aback and appreciative. Needless to say they loved it.
