Coda's Quilt

My nephew Tom who is in the Army and his wife Jen had their first baby on July 5th. I've been making quilts for my great-nieces & nephews, not typical baby quilts but ones that will take them into college. Since Coda was born in a military family and just after the 4th, of course his had to be patriotic!

Zip It Quilt

I made this as a baby quilt for my grandson. I used some scraps from my stash and the border was from Simply Colorful II. The back is flannel - grey crisscross. I did meandering free motion to quilt it. I have now added a pic from 2017 of my grandson on the quilt in a park. So great to have it in use. :)

I've appliqued letters before, so I felt a little comfortable. I free-handed a fleur-di-lis and found Sulky "Burnt Toast" #1265 to trim the edge of the applique. All in all, it was a fun, VERY quick quilt for a baby boy.
