Frivolous

This is made with Moda's new 7 " square that comes in their Frivols box. It's Bonnie and Camilles Hello Darling line. I didn't like the pattern that came with it and knew Jenny would have a better one--and she did! This is the disappearing pinwheel #5 adjusted for a 7" square instead of a layer cake. Instead of a 2 and 1/8 cut, I did some math and decided on 1- 1/2" cut. Then-Serendipity!-I saw Facebook pics of my good friends new nursery for her first grandchild and the colors were just right for this line ! So I added a panel on the side and added the baby's name-to-be. I bought a charm pack for the binding and name and the hearts.

Square Roots

A friend hosted a garage sale at her lake cabin where she had bins of vintage fabrics for sale. What fun! I assembled most of them in this easy to construct quilt top. I used Jenny Doan's binding and sashing tutorials to complete the quilt. It was the first time that I tried free motion stippling on my domestic sewing machine. But after taking a class at a quilting shop, it gave me the impetus to try it. I gave it to my eighty-eight year old mom who happily cherishes it.

Diamond quilt

I found this tutorial on line a few years back. I love the freshness of whites and brights. I enjoy working with brights as they are cheery. This quilt is for a friend who is 49 and pg -- she is over the moon. Since the baby is a big surprise, they chose not to find out the gender. Tumber Quilt
