Scalloped Lap Quilt
My 7th quilt, made between August and November, 2016. Cotton+Steel Basics Collection on the front and Cotton Couture in cream for the backside. Finished size is 52" X 52"; Quilters Dream wool batt. This quilt happened after I made cutting mistakes on my previous quilt, Hunter's Star, plus I had other fabric left over. I made a bunch of 4-patches, sewed them together, added a small teal border and decided a scalloped edge would be the cutest thing ever so added a big border with white Cotton+Steel. I had to buy a little more fabric for the backing and this is when I discovered the wonderfulness that is Cotton Couture by Michael Miller. The hand is lovely, way softer than Kona or Bella solids and since then I've been using it for the bodies of my pillow cases. I had lots of the silver metalic left over from the backside of Hunter's Star so I used some for this binding, too. Camlyn Quilts did the top stitching, and Lyn put lovely feathers on the scalloped border. Lesson learned and I'm fairly sure all quilters know this: making a quilt with leftover fabric requires buying more fabric. PS: If you want to see most of the Cotton Couture colors in person (there are 176) and you're in the Greater Seattle Area, go to Issaquah and visit Gossypium Quilt Shop. They have a big wall dedicated to it. Or you can visit the Michael Miller Fabrics website. Also, MSQC has about 45 colors at a really great price. posted 10-26-18
