Jacob's Ladder memory quilt (1 of 6)

I'm helping my friend piece quilts for her longarm quilting business. A family wanted six memory quilts made out of their fathers/grandfathers shirts. The plaid fabric is a flannel shirt in this quilt. Shift happens, missed some points. My friend lets me use her longarm and will quilt for me in return. It's a win/win for both of us. :-)

First Double Wedding Ring Quilt I

My brother asked me to make a quilt for friends of his who live out of the country. These friends recently got married and wanted to give my brother a gift. The gift was a beautiful Persian Rug to take home with him. He thought of a wedding gift to give them when he returned. He requested flowers intertwined throughout wedding rings. I now need to free motion quilt feathers and fillers.

Purple mushroom quilt

Update: It's quilted with swirl hooks and bound. My friend and I made this purple mushroom quilt for my friends husband to give to his wife for her birthday (she loves mushrooms and purple). My friend paper-pieced the mushrooms at a retreat months ago. We cut and sewed the remaining part of the quilt all day today. Her friends are visiting in four days. Quilt is 63" square. Mushroom pattern is from the book "A Paper-pieced Garden: 27 Mix-and-Match Blocks Plus Unique Quilts" by Maaike Bakker and Francoise Maarse

Pink and Gray Ribbons Quilt

Update: I quilted this on my friends longarm with swirl hooks. She's been teaching me. My second time FMQ on her longarm. I hand bound it. I made this pink and gray Jordan Fabrics Ribbons pattern quilt top for a best friend of one of my friends, who is fighting breast cancer. She requested a pink and gray quilt (her high school colors). I made my quilt (69 x 74") bigger than the pattern (50 x 60") since I was not using a layer cake. My husband says I'm in my big quilt phase as I usually make as least queen size. :-) I changed the border a little as I have my squares offfset by half a square, instead of a full square.

Pink and gray star quilt

I used fabric from my stash and a side kick ruler for this quilt. I experimented with triangles and diamond shapes. One of my favorite parts of quilting is designing the project. I design as I go using a design wall. There are a lot of y seams in this piece, I learned it is important to back stitch the partial seam so is does not separate when quilting. I also learned that heavy quilting covers a multitude of piecing imperfections........
