    I have always wanted to make an Amish quilt and when I saw this pattern made with white used instead of the black I seized the opportunity to make this quilt with my own twist. I had inspiration from the book shown below and found a pattern that I thought i could adapt. I love the fact that I didn't see the complete design until I had sewn the rows together. I honestly didn't see the "rays" until I had taken a picture of it spread out on the floor. When I have trouble seeing if all the pieces are exactly where I want them I take a picture of it on my phone and I get a completely different view. Lots of times I will change the arrangement based on the photo. This quilt is super easy-just half square triangles. In fact I made twice as many as I needed so now I can make another one.

    This quilt started as a March challenge in a guild I used to belong to. We were to come up with a modern wallhanging with a focus on green. I don't know if this is "modern," but I suppose it's different. The grass was made by stitching pieces of yarn layered between water soluble. The quilt looks crooked but that's because of how it was hanging in a quilt show. it was a lot of fun to make!

    Triquetra

    The Triquetra is an ancient Celtic trinity knot symbolizing the eternal cycle of life, death and rebirth, among other things. I had done some experimenting with hexagon prior to this but this was my first full-sized Hexie quilt. I designed it myself using Hexie graph paper and a vector image I got online. I used a yellow Triquetra print fabric from the Whispering Glen collection as well as a coordinating dark green vine print for the design itself and plain white cotton for the background. The quilting is a simple hand-stitched spiral pattern. This is one of my favorite quilts I've ever made.
