I made this quilt from Jenny's tutorial. It is for a local hospice and made from scraps.

This is a quilt I quilted from a preprinted panel from PatternJam. I had not used one before and I had trouble doing free motion on my machine. I changed the needle, cleaned it, repeatedly changed the tension and it still wouldn't quilt properly. My mother suggested that it might be the fabric. I think she was right. I had not washed it before making it into a sandwich and I tried quilting with my Pfaff IDT, and it worked much better. I have another panel that I have created and printed at PatternJam and I washed it today before quilting and it is much softer and I think, more pliable to be quilted.

Strip race

I started this as a fun game with my daughter to see who could finish there craft first.(she was arm knitting a scarf). I then decided that I wanted to give it to a friend and coworker haveing her first child. So I backed it with a very soft emoji print fabric.

Office Daydreams

I designed this quilt for an Instagram challenge, #30daysofquiltdesign, and could wait to get started on it. The title comes from the piecing looking like file folders and Anna Marie Horner's Fibs and Fables as the backing and binding. I knew right away I wanted to use Me and You batiks and loved them. Just 'Bee'

My bee-utiful friend Mary was told that she had cancer. First I held her, then we prayed and then I went home for a 3 day weekend and made her something to curl up with during treatments. I also made her a certificate. Oh yeah, the cutie pup...that's Bella Blue!!

Lil' Firecracker

The Daily Deal one day was honoring Rob Appell of Man Sewing fame. I bought the Strata book, template and a roll of Tropicana Solids. Bright and bold, just what the doctor ordered for a 'brown on brown on brown' camper interior. I got all of my stratas made and went to find a solid to finish up the quilt. My first thought was a beautiful floral that had all of the colors of the strata. When I opened the fabric, I realize that it was much more of a scene than just a beautiful floral, so we walked around and found the fireworks show. I love how it turned out, even if I did have to finish it in a mad dash!

My First Quilt

When I was in my early 20's, my roommate received a quilt from her mother as a wedding gift. The quilt was made from clothing her daughter had worn from favorite pjs to the dress she wore for her graduation. I still remember the tears and laughter as she recognized each piece of fabric and the memories. I decided at that time that I would like to use this idea one day when my children got married. But I first had to learn to quilt. I took classes from a local quilt shop and this is the quilt I made during those classes. So this is the first of many quilts I've made. It is also the only quilt I've kept. All others have been gifts.

Quilt of Valor

My son spent six years as a Navy SEAL. While he was deployed, his roommate who was stationed stateside provided supporr for my son and others in harms way. He was a source of comfort to us when I would watch too much news. I made this quilt to thank him for watching out for all of us, and for his dedication to our country. Our son is home safe and sound now, but I remain forever grateful to all our men and women who are willing to place themselves at risk to assure my freedom.
