JELLY ROLL PATTERN & A NINE PATCH BACKING - QUAG
An announcement arrives in the mail in November for an April Wedding. Plenty of time for a shower quilt. B.U.T., projects for Thanksgiving, & Christmas must be done first. When I realized that it was January 2017, now, it is crunch time to make a quilt for the shower. I have to find an easy pattern on pinterest, therefore, the research begins.
I found this pattern, I do not even know the name, nor do I have a pattern, just a picture that someone designed. I tried to find finish quilts to get an idea of for the color scheme. No Luck. In my inexperience, I thought if the back ground color was all green that the pattern would work. W.E.L.L. it didn't. To help calm this design, I ended up sashing the blocks which added to the QUAG process. I discovered, if I am going to QUAG then I can design the back as if it was another quilt. That is when I decided to make a large nine block. It work perfectly with the amount of fabric that I already owned.
WHAT DID I LEARN? Buy the pattern. My mistakes in this quilt was when I guessed instead of following someone elses' math already worked out. I would definitely make this quilt again, but with a solid or same background. Thanks for listening. See you next quilt.
