Pretty in pink pinwheels
My daughter will be 4 in a couple of weeks and since I've been making quilts for at least 2 years and have gotten comfortable with my craft I asked her if she wanted a quilt for her birthday or something else and she chose a quilt (smart girl!) I've had unused pink rose colored muslin sitting in my fabric stash for quite awhile and decided that to be the background the pinwheels. I used one charm pack that I had but then threw in bits of other odd fabric that I had that matched the charm pack color scheme. I was even able to use a blue and white duck fabric that belonged to my grandmother who just passed away last year. Had to cut around the holes and aged bits on that fabric but it will definitely be an heirloom piece now which makes me happy for my girls to have family history to pass down since my grandmotner was a quilter as well, but she had 6 children and numerous grandchildren so I probably won't get one of the quilts she made but knowing I was able to incorporate some of her old fabric makes me happy! The one piece of the quilt which I did not pick, I let my 3 year old girl pick because it's her birthday present, was the backing. She picked a my little pony fabric from our local fabric store. I'm sure when she's older it will be something we will laugh about and be a good memory.
