Ceana's likes Spin Cycle I bought these fabrics last year at MSQC and finally got them out. The pattern is Spin Cycle and uses the tube strip ruler. Fabric is the Imperial Gardens collection from Benartex. I love the middle eastern look of them. I had enough left of the jellyroll to also make placemats and a table runner. Didn't have a jellyroll so I just used a bunch of scrap strips we had. I think I got a bit too much into the groove of sewing the strips together as I had enough for this large quilt, a throw quilt and the binding for both! It sat under the bed in my mom's sewing room until recently when it was rediscovered. Just finished putting the binding on it last night. It is definitely more of a second quilt on the bed then the top pretty one, but since I put flannel on the back it will be nice and warm in the winter. I changed it at bit, and added 1" unfinished white Kona cotton strips between each fabric, to make the colors pop. I like the scrappy look, hope the kids do too. So this year I volunteered to make Christmas Stockings for children in foster care for my city's Child Welfare Services Office. I'm thrilled to make them! By Gingnet 22 LIKES | 1435 VIEWS Scrap Quilt I wanted to make a scrap quilt. I cut all of the pieces that were not big enough to get a 10" square out of into 5" and 2 1/2" pieces. When I got done I realized that I had colors divided by brights and muteds. This is what I made from the brights. The pattern is Jelly Turnover from the Moda Bakeshop. By Connie72047 9 LIKES | 1452 VIEWS There Will Be No More Talk About Yo-yos About three years ago my Guild's President's Challenge was to create a quilt with a rainbow hiding in plain sight. The yo-yo circles were stitched, by machine, to the quilt sandwich BEFORE they were drawn up into yo-yos. This created the actual quilting that looks like bubbles on the quilt back.. On the back I also added a few miscellaneous circles as if they were being pulled through the quilt sandwich to become more yo-yos. The quilt was the only double award winner, taking Viewer's Choice & Best Contemporary Interpretation of a Traditional Design. As an added nod, it was selected to be included as one of the quilts pictured in a set of note cards published by the Guild this past year. By LindaD 21 LIKES | 1311 VIEWS "I Like..." This is the quilt I made for my 4 year old granddaughter. Each of the zig zag strips is done in a print representing things she liked at the time: dogs, bugs, dinosaurs, robots, ice cream, lemons (for lemonade), etc. By willowynd 7 LIKES | 1047 VIEWS Itty Bitty Primitive Pinwheels Made this for a friend who is a veteran and she had recently graduated from her masters program. Quilted it all over with rainbow thread in a stippling pattern and appliquéd on his name. Love the lime green backing! Did straight line quilting on the solids and a dense stipple on the multicoloured fabric. By stephdeagostini 34 LIKES | 2611 VIEWS «12...96979899100101102...426427»
