Spring Blossoms Double Square Star Tablecloth
Bright sunny days seem to beckon me to find a quick project to try out Jenny Doan's Double Square Star quilt pattern (MSQ Block Magazine winter volume 3, issue 1, page 49). I paired it with the yellow and gray assortment of floral and geometric fabrics for a spring themed tablecloth. To make the tablecloth size, I sewed nine blocks instead of twenty. The blocks appeared complex but were easy to put together, especially after watching her tutorial video. With the remaining pieces, I stitched together varying widths for a complementary edging. I free motioned an all over floral and leaf design for the main part of the top, then used the walking foot to outline some of the perimeter. The tablecloth finished at 52 inches x 52 inches including a six inch drop --- the perfect size for a friend's apartment sized dining table.
