I started quilting the summer of 2013 after retiring from teaching. I love it! My older sister has been a quilter for almost 20 years and she has been very helpful! My daughter is a quilter and has a HandiQuilter 16 (which my sister gave her when she bought the Avanti 18). So sweet daughter does a lot of quilting for my larger pieced quilts! I love wildflowers, bright vivid material, batiks and blues!

Wild Cardinals Don't get the Blues
I signed up for a Karen K Stone workshop (Wild Women Don't Get the Blues) to learn about paper piecing, but at the last minute became ill and couldn't attend! Luckily my sister was also attending. She picked up my directions since it was too late for a refund, and showed me what to do. I picked out Hoffman's Woodsy Winter as my focus fabric. I used a variety of red, black, and white fabrics to complete the paper piecing. My daughter quilted the finished Wall Hanging!

Sunlight on AutumnLeaves
I wanted a wall hanging for autumn, so after playing with some curved piecing and then seeing Rob at ManSewing's tutorial on curved piecing, I decided to make this little quilt! I cut my own 2.5" strips in the colors I liked and then appliqued some fun leaves falling through the quilt!
