64 year old retired Nurse-Midwife who now lives on a cattle and goat farm with retired Surgeon Hubby. I started quilting in the 70's but life was too busy and now enjoy more time for it. Between gathering eggs, milking goats, making cheese and soap, I also make unique and traditional quilts, and quilt them on my longarm machine.

As it often does, this project grew from an attraction to a group of fabrics. An impulse buy, that turned into a satisfying quilt. Just needs the binding finished.

Baby Quilt
My daughter asked me to make this baby quilt. She picked out the colors and pattern. Since she didn't want to know what she was having, it is non-gender specific. I think it turned out very nice and I'm glad she had me make it for her. Baby girl Vivienne was born on August 19th!!!

This quilt is really out of the norm for me. I generally like matching colors and not a lot of curved piecing. But I needed the practice and also needed to whittle down my stash a bit. I really like how it turn out and I got a lot of curved piecing practice.

Just Takes Two
This quilt was featured at the Houston International Quilt Show, I believe last year. Some friends of ours went to Houston, liked the quilt and talked three of us into doing it. So far we are the only ones to have completed it! We changed out some of the blocks we did not like as well for some we liked better. Frankly, my wife and I are not that experienced as quilters, so this one was quite a bit "over our head" in terms of the complexity and diversity of designs. Probably learned more doing this quilt than any other we have attempted. I get bored doing one block 100 times...this quilt has every block unique, so definitely not boring. Got the pattern from Sentimental Stitches.

The Garden of My Dreams
I just finished this quilt top at my second quilt retreat here in North Carolina. I used all Kaffe Fassett material and as this top slowly came together, I loved it more and more. Cannot wait to get it sandwiched and long armed.

Oh Deer
Love how this turned out. Lots of time but well worth it. My sister and I cut out the deer with the silhouette cutter. Appliquéd them on with machine. Such bright fun material. Soft orange flannel on the back.

Quilt for the Granddaughter
My husband asked me to make a quilt for the granddaughter for Christmas. I looked at several different fabrics and patterns but when I saw this material and tutorial last fall as a Daily Deal from MSQC, I knew it was the one. He did say to make it bright! :) The tutorial is the Rainbow Jellyroll Quilt Top by Heather Jones from Creative Bug.

Ellery's Coat-of-Many-Colors Quilt
Although I now have many quilts made from MSQ patterns/tutorials, this queen size quilt was only my 2nd to undertake and was pre-discovery of all things MSQ. Ignorance, thankfully, IS bliss! Ellery is my 3rd grandchild but my first grandDaughter so I'd spent many hours sewing dresses, coats, nursery bedding, shorts sets, etc, in her first 5 years. I saw this quilt & tutorial on Pinterest (http://www.modabakeshop.com/2012/10/simply-woven-quilt.html) and decided it was the perfect quilt for my El bc I could use up lots of the fabric scraps from all those things I'd made for her. Win/Win, right? I mean, Ellery gets a quilt with memories stitched in every block and my stash DEcreases!! WELL, what I didn't yet appreciate was the fact that there would be MANY points in each block (like 12!!!) that would need to match up with the other 4 blocks touching it! I eagerly tackled all the pressing, cutting, starching, measuring, CUTTING, etc, & jumped in. This quilt is FAR from perfect but to Ellery and to me, it is super special!!! For the quilt back, I did a Greatly super sized log cabin with one of El Bell's favorite embroidery design in the center (from Quite-a-Stitch http://www.quite-a-stitch.com/product/sparkle-6). i'm in LOVE with this quilt, "warts and all!!"
