My daughter asked me to make a quilt for her friend's wedding gift. The friend is getting married on July 24th, Pioneer Day in Utah. The wedding is "western" with red and blue for colors. We decided to use the Big Star pattern, but make it giant. I started with 18" squares. I had a fat quarter bundle of Miss Kate by Bonnie and Camille for Moda. I picked a lighter and darker blue and red. The quilt is echo quilted, with a little "snowball" look on the corners. I left the star "fins" mostly unquilted to make them stand out. I made corner "pockets" to add a rod for hanging. The triangle pockets have the name of the couple, date on one side, and my name on the other (and my daughter's since it was her idea). It is 45.5" square.
