Around 1997 I seen an art quilt for the first time hanging at the Florida State Fair. It was a landscape image made from lots of different types of fabric. Unlike any "quilt" I had seen prior, it blew away my previous thoughts of what a quilt "had" to be - I was hooked. :-) I started making art quilts - no rules, no guidance, no classes, no books - just what I wanted to do and I played around with all different types of fabrics and techniques until I achieved the look I had envisioned in my mind. Fast forward to around 2009, after "quilting" for over 10 years, I finally took the plunge and started piecing traditional quilt blocks. A short time later I discovered foundation paper piecing and LOVE it! Today, the vast majority of the things I do are either micro-sized paper pieced quilts or wall hanging art quilts with a random pieced quilt thrown in here and there. Aside from quilting some of the other things I enjoy include: sewing, upcycling, wood working & carving, art dolls, veggie gardening, canning & preserving, hunting & fishing, and playing on the floor with our late in life surprise little girl who turned 2 in March 2015. I also have a daughter who is 21, a son who is 20, and a granddaughter who will be 1 in October.
