Merry Christmas to my grand-niece!

This fabric panel hung in my closet for years...then, this year I brought it out for my 2-year-old niece. The panel ends at the multi-colored diagonal fabric...I added the red, the snowy night sky black, and the peppermint candy fabric borders, so that I could add the applique of holly, snowflakes and reindeer. I bought this panel so long ago, washed and trimmed it so that it was ready for use...I am sorry, but I do not know who manufactured the fabric panel or who the designer is...if someone does, please comment and I will add that information to my post.

Simple Hearts and added Applique

I was looking for a pattern to use to make a youth-sized quilt for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's fundraiser, to be held in just two weeks. With only one week to make and finish the quilt, I needed something either repetitive or pretty straightforward. When I saw this pattern, I knew it was what I was looking for...Allison of Cluck Cluck sew designed the pattern "Simple Hearts" and I then modified it with colorful borders around each heart, and in the end I placed another border around the outer edge of the quilt, adding applique hearts for interest.

World War II Veteran Quilt

I have been asked by local quilt shops to offer up a quilt of valor, at least a couple times a year. I would be happy to do so, but it occurred to me that I should first make a quilt for my Mom's two brothers, both of whom are World War II veterans. Each star on my Uncle Art's quilt, featured here, represents one of his descendants ~ children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
