This was a pattern entitled Giant Storm at Sea. I made if from paper templates using batiks. It was a gift to somone who was struggling while doing a PHD. It was meant to symbolise that even storms have patterns, struggle can bring clarity eventually! I have to keep the quilting simple as I have a tiny sewing machine. It is unfinished in this photo but finished since... My grandmother would say-A craftsman (woman) never blames his/her tools!!!

I was fascinated by Wagga Wagga quilts by Aboriginal people in which they used clothes etc. to make utility quilts So I made this years ago for my second grandson from his baby clothes. Many of which include American sport motifs, even though we are Irish. That was 8 years ago and it is still used, washed weekly and still stands up to everything. It is not the best made quilt but I loved making it. Have bags of clothes from other granchildren waiting for their Wagga Wagga quilt.

I finally quilted my mother's quilt today! I took heed of another quilter here who said simple quilting which is all I can do can be effective and she was right, so thank you!
