Clambake

I designed this quilt with two inspirations in mind. The first was Jenny Hayes Double Drunkard's Path template and the second was I just wanted to make a quilt using Nantucket red. I chose the name clambake mainly because I'm a Bing Crosby fan but also because the overall design had a picnic feel. 56" x 70" On an aside, I know I don't make the typical MSQC quilt but one of the reasons I post here is I learned much of the basics of quilting by watching Jenny's tutorials over and over again, and over again in some cases. Chloe's quilt

Used a jelly roll for the first time. Decided when I was half way through sewing the strips that it would be a lovely quilt for our niece for her 21st Birthday. Only the 2nd time I have completed a quilt using FMQ. Large meander with pebbles in the dividing strips. Quilted using Marti Michell's quilting in sections technique on my small Janome machine. I'm starting to enjoy FMQ.

Schrader's Healing Quilt

This quilt was made especially for a friend struggling with mental illness. The fabric is Batik, created using a centuries old technique allowing for artistic freedom as patterns are applied by actual drawing or stamping, rather than by weaving with thread. Each piece is truly unique with characteristics all it's own. Like Schrader. Browns and Copper represent the Earth, the Blues and Ivory represent water and sky. I wanted to reflect the warmth and power of the sun, the calm and soothing sound of the waves with my free motion quilting designs.
