By Gramma 67 LIKES | 1877 VIEWS Twister Quilt I purchased a layer cake from Missouri Star as the material was so pretty, you know you had to have it. I had no idea what I would make. A quilt group I belong too makes Children quilts and donates them and they were going to do this pattern that took a layer cake. So I thought why not use that "Hello Darling" by Moda layer cake. I made it love it and plan to keep it but no worries I made another to donate. By caf7carq 17 LIKES | 1046 VIEWS Libby's Graduation For one of my daughter's best friends for graduation. Sashed Rail Fence pattern. Notting Hill jelly roll that I'd been hoarding for a couple of years. Gotta love 'The Stash!' But, even though I struggled to finish it, I liked it once it was done. By MelissaAnn 21 LIKES | 570 VIEWS Memories This was made for a lady whose Mother passed away using her PJ's and Gowns. I included photos to honor her Mother. By Gramma 10 LIKES | 1097 VIEWS Half Hexie Braid Saw the tutorial on this quilt while I was bedridden with a back injury. Love Love Love the colors! I swore it would be my first project when I could sit and sew again, and it was! Worked on it at my first outing after 4 months of injections and therapy. LOVE the way it turned out! I entered it in the McCall's Quilting Design Star Contest and I got in! By Juliebquilts 18 LIKES | 1125 VIEWS Destin Compass Destin Compass was designed for the first round of the McCall's Design Star Contest. We had to use the Storm at Sea pattern and it had to be recognizable. I took my fabric and sewing machine on my Florida vacation to get it done in time. By Juliebquilts 14 LIKES | 966 VIEWS Faerie Frolic Faerie Frolic was designed for the second round of the McCall's Quilting Design Star contest. We were given a yard of fabric and were told to make something. We could add as many other fabrics as we wanted but we couldn't purchase any more of the challenge fabric. We had 4 weeks to complete this round I carried the fabric around with me for three weeks trying to decide what to do with it. It was a large floral piece and wouldn't work for piecing like I'm used to. I was ready to give up when 4 days before the deadline I decided to put Heat N Bond on the back and fussy cut all the flowers out. This quilt is unlike anything I'd ever made before (or since)! I completed it barely before the deadline and wasn't sure I like it at all... I WON THE ROUND!! By Juliebquilts 11 LIKES | 973 VIEWS Rainbow Bright This was my final quilt for the McCall's Quilting Design Star Contest. We were given the theme Opposites Attract and could make anything we wanted. I took the theme literally and used black, white and rainbow colors to create a color wheel. Each fabric is opposite its coordinating color on the color wheel. I embroidered words of encouragement on random pieces of the quilt. This quilt was quilted by my favorite longarm quilter. By Carolfoxworthy 32 LIKES | 2392 VIEWS «123456789101112»
