kbwalker's likes Mom's favorite When I was diagnosed with leukemia in 2012 i retreated to my sewing room and pieced my first quilt. I didn't know who or where it was going to go but I just needed to sew. I needed bright, cheery colors! As I put this together I thought of my mom, who was 80 years old and knew she's would love it. So when it was done I gifted it to her and she LOVES IT! By Gracie15 6 LIKES | 541 VIEWS A Lovely Tweet I made this quilt for my daughter from a layer cake of "Lovely" from Sandy Gervais. It was made with birds and trees applique along the border. The blocks are from a Thimbleblossoms pattern called "Dilly Dally". I made this quilt several years ago but it turned out that it matched the colors in our new bird perfectly! The father is from India so I found fabric to give the quilt an Indian "flair"! I used the Missouri Star Tutorial on how to do a flange binding! It was fairly easy! We were supposed to make a crib size quilt in the class but as usually I just couldn't do what I was supposed to. My sampler expanded (I had a few new blocks I wanted to try) to an almost King Size quilt. Again, this quilt was quilted by Tracy Bentley of Maple Leaf Quilting Company. I believe it might be from around the late 40's or early 50's. It was very dirty and stained. I soaked it, dried it and then proceeded to finish it. I added a border, sandwiched it and quilted it on my sit down quilter. I think it came out very nicely and am proud that it is now in its finished stage and looking so beautiful!
