My neighbor's first grandchild was on the way. The nursery colors were bright primary blue, orange and green. I chose the turtle and then learned it is a symbol of luck in the Vietnamese community. I added a meta blessing in both English and Vietnamese on the back.e

Peacock for Alzheimer's

This quilt was made for an Alzheimer's research fund raiser. My mother was living in an Alzheimer's treatment facility. I am forever grateful for the loving care she received there. I was happy to contribute to their annual drive to find a cure. The pattern is Sidelights by Kari Nichols

Quilt of Valor for Husband

The Quilts of Valor Coordinator for Texas came to our guild about two years ago and did a presentation of the program and demonstrated how a QoV is draped on a soldier. So our guild made ten QoVs to give to ten local qualified Veterans. Since my husband was one of the chosen recipients, I decided that he would probably appreciate the quilt more if it came from me rather than a stranger, so I made this one and he has no idea. The Texas Coordinator will come to our event on July 11 and will present all of the QoVs in a special ceremony. We have invited the mayor, city council, county commissioners, county judge, as well as a few state politicians. I found the pattern for this quilt in Fons and Porter "Love of Quilting" issue from September/October 2012.

Peggy's Quilt #11 - Periwinkle

This is my 11th quilt, which I call my Periwinkle Quilt. It's 90"x84" and I worked on it between October 2015 and May 2016. This quilt used the Periwinkle pattern from MSQC, and a fabric collection by Kaffe Fasset. It's a different sort of quilt in that I used lightweight 'Lawn' fabric for the background and backside fabrics, and silk/polyester (90/10%) batting. It was a long haul to cut and paper-piece 210 blocks and then sew them together, and then sew on 3 borders. I sent it off to Lyn Durbin at Camlyn Quilts for custom long-arm quilting on April 2, 2016, and picked it up on May 17th. The hand-sewn binding was finished on May 19th. There are 4 pillowcases (sewn in March 2016) that complete the set. I love quilting! Peggy
