patchworkdog's likes Forever in Blue Jeans Perfect for summer softball games and lazy days! I made this quilt from a pattern by Maho Schwartz in "Easy Quilts," Spring 2014 edition. It was harder than I thought it would be (mostly because of the weight of the denim), but it turned out beautifully. I cut up a layer cake into 5" squares for the inserts. By Welshone 6 LIKES | 1218 VIEWS Autumn in New England The inspiration for this confetti/art wall hanging came from a photo taken by my dad in New England years ago. The background, grass & trees are appliqued. The leaves were made from several colors of batiks that were cut into confetti size pieces.....then placed on the background. I added a layer of black tulle over the whole thing for texture & to hold confetti in place. Then added FMQ over the leaves & the grassy areas.........I used red, yellow & brown Floriani embroidery thread. I saw the confetti technique online & in a magazine article & wanted to try it. This was a Christmas gift for my dad. The size is 10" x 13". Here are a few progress photos & inspiration picture. I find it hard to believe that I hand pieced such small pieces. By Bettie 15 LIKES | 1068 VIEWS Jinx My friend's beloved dog of 14 years became gravely ill and it was feared that the end was near. I wanted to do something that might comfort her, if he passed, so I made an art quilt of Jinx. Fortunately, he pulled through! He's the year of the dragon, so I used a really cool black dragon fabric for the backing. The colors on the log cabin blocks match the black and gold from the dragons in the back. I puffed the squares with thick polyester batting cut one inch smaller than the squares. This quilt is just as soft and fun as I thought it would be. By JemFleur 4 LIKES | 1101 VIEWS «123456789101112»
