Blue Barn
Quilt #13. Edyta Sitar/Laundry Basket pattern and their Blue Sky fabric collection with Michael Miller's Cotton Couture cream for the background and backing. Quilters Dream wool batt. Finished size 89" x 95" (original pattern size was 64" x 82"). Started 06-24-18 and finished 03-07-19. Took my time with this one! The pattern used the Blue Barn fabric collection from Laundry Basket Quilts, but I liked the Blue Sky collection so much more ~ it's brighter and has more contrast plus it has lilacs and hydrangias, my favorite flowers. I picked the fabrics I liked best from that collection, plus enough more for an extra vertical row of houses and three borders to make it big enough for my bed. Just for fun I cut one house in reverse and put it in the center of all the houses. I mitered the borders, which was easier than I thought it would be and so worth the elegance it added, and I made two pillowcases to match. Our long-arm quilter, Lyn of Camlyn Quilts in Marysville, WA, did an edge-to-edge feather meander inside the cream border, curls in the cream border and then curling vine feathers in the three outer mitered borders. She did an amazing job joining the vines together at the corners, so pretty. . . I love this quilt. posted 080219.
