Serendipity for Quilts of Valor
This was a pattern I wanted to try for donating to my quilt of valor group. I had a pack of 10" squares and thought I had enough till I got to laying them out. I was short about 12 more squares so I dived into my stash and wanted to accent more of the yellow, blue, and greens for this quilt. The 2 1/2" strips I used were leftover strips from previous projects and also included strips pieces. I did have to cut a few strips from my stash. toward the end In order complete all my squares. For Quilts of Valor the top has to be within certain demensions to be accepted. These colors are also a little less than traditional since I did not stick to the traditional, white, blue and or cream. This quilt measures 60 by 80. I also enjoyed the way little diamonds appear in the blocks as well as the X's and O's with some of the blocks, some of the o's came out with an hourglass design and a few as an envelope block. The bonus from using this pattern is I also have enough squares to do a second quilt with a cute pinwheel.
