Peggy's Quilt #3 - Double Aster

Peggy's Quilt #3 - Double Aster

This is my 3rd quilt. I count it as #3 because I did actually sew most of it! The story: a friend had been suggesting for years that she make a quilt for me. All I had to do was buy the fabric and find a pattern. She would do the piecing. Early in 2014, she started the piecing using Double Aster and Ohio Star blocks. Then in August 2014, I 'discovered' quilting for myself, After I finished 2 quilts, she said that if I didn't mind, now that I knew how to quilt, would I take over and finish the quilt she had started for me so she could move on to make quilts for family members who don't know how to quilt. I said sure (of course). The fabric collection is 'Wingin' It' by The Buggy Barn for Henry Glass Fabrics, plus there were other prints pulled in to blend. My friend pieced eight 12" Red, Pink and Turquoise Double Aster blocks and eight 6" Ohio Star blocks. I sewed all of the rest of the blocks, sashing and borders, and finished piecing in April 2015. The finished size is 88.5" x 88.5". The batting is Hobbs Heirloom 100% Wool. The long arm free-motion quilting was done by Lyn Durbin of Camlyn Quilts, completed May 30, 2015. Using leftover fabric, I made a set of 4 pillow cases. I love quilting! Peggy
