Patriotic

This is for my step son, Stevie. He is an amazing young man serving right now in the Air force. He has a heart of gold and is always first to offer help. I couldn't think of a better quilt pattern that fits his personality than a patriotic themed friendship star. Now, I will say that this is my first attempt with triangles. I cut out squares, then cut each one in half to make the triangles. Then sewed the triangles back together to make the half squares.... theeeeeennnn I ran across Missouri Star and Jeni's tutorial on half square triangles... I wish I saw that shortcut before cutting out all those triangles! LOL Live and learn and I have been hooked on the quilt tutorials since. :-)
