Freehand Easter Egg

I was intrigued by the articles in American Patchwork and Quilting by Jean Wells about freehand piecing (February, April, June and October, 2015).I tried it out and turned it into an Easter Egg. Arthritis makes my hands stiff, so I avoid hand applique as much as possible. Instead I sewed the egg to a piece of interfacing and turned that inside out to get nice edges. Then I sewed it down by machine. I designed the rest of the pillow, but the egg is definitely my favorite part. (Completed; 2015)
